This week I finished my new stitch adapter that allows me to easily capture hi-res images from the camera. This makes all future images closer to 6000 by 6000 pixels instead of 3000 by 3000 pixels. This adapter also helps keep the camera in the same place between shots which minimizes distortion and makes processing the images easier.

In the field:
This week I drove to go hiking with the camera. This was the first time I did a real hike with it so I was a little worried about it being too much to carry around but it ended up being alright. The weight was made easier to carry around because of the bag I brought to carry the camera in. The camera is also pretty light so it's not really a weight issue more of just a big thing to move around. Anyway, I hiked around 3 miles and then hopped back in the car and took some more photos of the surrounding lakes. This was overall a therapeutic experience for me and some is related to the camera. During my drive back I saw the sunset so I pulled over and set up the camera. When setting up I had a rough time getting the focus right for some reason. It was too dark to close the aperture so it was wide open which definitely caused this a bit. When I got home and saw the photo I started thinking about how people view these photos. The image is dark and blurry and you can recognize all the shapes and imagine this view I saw. Looking again at the image I see it for what it is now which is a raw projection of what I saw. The image has this melancholic look as the sun goes down and the light fades and there is no hope of getting a perfect bright exposure with this camera. The image is what it is.

More importantly this week I processed a bunch of images so I would have more to show. Processing takes a bit longer now because I have to stitch multiple images together and then remove hot spots sometimes. But overall I got about 17 done this week and they should be in the pictures section shortly. Now comes the balance of taking pictures and arranging the book. The writings will be revised versions of some of the things I talked about in these blogs followed by images and rough drawings. One thing I haven't included yet but I will make a drawing for is the differences between software and hardware interfierence and the effect on texture. Hardware is something like the final lens in the camera that causes those rings. Software is something like computational photography in phones. I leave this blog post out with this sneak peek behind the stitching process.
